What a tubewell is
Steel tube into the aquifer.
A tube well is a water well in which a long stainless steel tube 100 to 200 mm wide — four to eight inches — is bored into an underground aquifer. The lower end carries a strainer, and a pump at the top lifts water for irrigation. Required depth depends on where the water table sits. A small reservoir at the outlet holds water for local use.

Wells have been installed successfully in the Beet area of Punjab, where the water table sits 75 to 165 metres below the land surface — conditions that defeat lighter rigs. We have also installed deep tubewells across Himachal Pradesh and other states of India.
